Harmonica Lesson 3
Lesson 2 introduced single notes on hole 1. Clearly you will need more notes to play tunes! This lesson shows how to play the notes from holes 4 to 7.
Hold your harmonica, so that the fourth hole from the bottom is lined up with your lips. Then bring the harmonica to your mouth, and blow. You should hear a note like this
Now breathe in. You should hear this note
Now we play the notes from hole 4 to hole 7. These are 4B 4D 5B 5D 6B 6D 7D 7B They should sound like
Note that when you reach 6D, you change the sequence, and move to 7D, then 7B. It takes some practice to get this right.
The pattern is called the C major scale, the foundation stone of music. When you and your child can play this scale then you are ready to play the children's songs.
